Péliföldszentkereszt is an ancient pilgrimage site, and therefore a key destination on pilgrimage routes. Its sacral value is unique, and it is also an important arrival and departure point for school trips, nature walks and pilgrimages.
The revival of the place is due to the Salesians of Don Bosco, that welcome visitors with monastic hospitality.
Accommodation is available in the Friary, which surrounds the pilgrimage church, and in the adjacent Don Bosco House, a building with attic, in en-suite rooms with bunk beds for 4-6 people. With its own communal areas and attic rooms, it offers a special atmosphere, a real Salesians' home for those staying here.
In the immediate vicinity of the houses, the third hostel is the Salesians' Youth House, which offers 6-18 beds in dormitories, corridor bathrooms, a dining room and public areas (tables for table tennis, table football) for guests all year round.
The hostels are a 1-minute walk from snack bars and a visitor centre with a Creation conservation exhibition. Nearby caves, sacral, cultural and active treasures can be explored on shorter walks.
The buildings can accommodate a total of 200 guests at a price of 4-7000 HUF per person, depending on the number of nights spent.
