Snail tour in the Basilica: Playful discovery for children

The nice little snail mascot gives thrilling, playful tasks to children and leads them on a journey through the huge building from the lower church to the dome lookout. Children can use the small 'Snail Tour' booklet to discover the Egyptian style crypt, the frescos and reliefs of the church and the special Bakócz chapel.

On the red marble staircase of the Basilica, they can look for the ancient relatives of their tour guide, the ammonites, and start discovering the somewhat formidable lower church with a playful task. The children have to pay close attention to the details in the main altarpiece, Michelangelo Grigoletti’s Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the statues of Hungarian saints to be able to answer the questions of Csiga-biga Basilica and solve the booklet tasks.

Of course, if one of the tasks is not solved, the correct answers are given at the end of the booklet.
